The beginning of the Wolfpack.

My good friend Dillion Smith and myself began training together at my gym when it all started. We’re both strength coaches and provide programming for many of the members at Brewhouse Barbell, and Dillion thought it would be a great idea if we could find some of our friends to establish a crew that trains together at the same time. Slowly we had friends and members take us up on our offer and now we’ve got a solid group of guys. Training with a crew, or a wolfpack, in our case, ensures that we’re surrounded by likeminded individuals (shoutout tribe psychology) all chasing and pushing ourselves and each other to crush our goals and demand the best out of each other. The name happened out of one of our many humorous outbursts between sets which are riddled with trash talk and ironically aggressive cueing, and I’m sticking to it in all its gimmicky glory!

Here’s where the fun begins…

After some early success I realized that our training crew presented an amazing opportunity for me to document, analyze, and explore the intricacies within our training and programming. My hope is that these findings can be of great value to anyone interested in the pursuit of strength or the theoretical foundations and physiological mechanisms underlying how we get stronger.

Co-Leaders of the Wolfpack

Connor Cocklin

I am a partner and manager at Brewhouse Barbell, a phenomenal place for powerlifters and strongman competitors. The gym has power racks, calibrated plates, stones/kegs, and various apparatuses you won’t have available at a regular commercial gym like anytime, or 24 hour fitness, etc.

Long story short, I used to be fat but always thought of myself as an athlete. Figured some life stuff out and got in the gym, started training harder than ever. I then got involved in the research side of things.

After undergrad, I completed my Master’s of Science in Sports Data Analytics with an emphasis on Athlete Monitoring and Ex. Phys. While in grad school I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist accredited by the NSCA.

I have worked with many athletes, clients, and members, helping them get stronger, move better, and improve quality of life. That last aspect is most important to me.

My traditional/formal strengths lie on the data analytics side of the spectrum but I am constantly pursuing a whole body of knowledge when it comes to being a complete strength coach.

Dillion Smith

Dillion is a long time friend of mine and together we program and coach up the Wolfpack. Interested in strength training early on, Dillion played football through highschool, where the love of iron emerged.

He has a more traditional route in the strength and conditioning world, throughout getting his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science & Sport Performance he gained experience in the weight room through his apprenticeship with the UCO Football team. Afterwards he took a role as the Director of Sports Performance at a gym where he worked hands on with professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, and a multitude of D1 collegiate athletes. He is in school working to pursue his doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Dillion runs his own strength and conditioning business, Anvil Strength and Restoration, where he helps his athletes and clients improve performance, and offers an added emphasis on restorative modalities and body work in order to keep everyone training and feeling good.

Join the crew, be apart of the Wolfpack.

I will be producing a weekly newsletter going through exactly what exercises we’re doing, precise technical advice, explaining why we’re performing them, and showcasing members of our crew. Dillion and I charge upwards of $250 monthly to create personalized programs based on individuals but now you can observe the behind the scenes, get a look inside our head while we program for ourselves and the crew with our unique and individual circumstances.

Free and paid options are available.
